Computer networking deals with planning, implementation and maintenance of computer networks. Computer network engineers are responsible for stability and integrity of voice, data, video and wireless network services.
Computer Engineer works with a company’s computer network, using information technology to make network systems for all employees to use. These data networks can include local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), intranets and extranets. Network complexity can vary depending on the organization, and the company may have one dedicated engineer or many globally connected engineers working together with the Chief Technology Officer.
Network engineers must have skills to analyze where communications are going to be needed, create plans for the network, present it to senior management, be up-to-date on the latest technology, understand and determine the hardware and wiring needs for buildings.
Cisco Certification provides skills required to handle vendor-specific networks and devices. It comes with specializations like Routing and Switching, Security, Service Provider Operations, Voice and Wireless. After attaining your Cisco certification, you will be responsible for tasks like configuring, installing and analysing networks (LAN, WAN, VPN etc.), monitoring network logs, usage, authentication and overall performance, diagnosing and troubleshooting problems, adding new servers, assisting, advising and supporting end-users in evaluating third-party tools, vendor products, system upgrades and security testing.
